 | 1341 Flight leaves for Boston, MA--American Airlines Flight 810

Sunday, 5/26/02
 | 0745 Arrived in Paris. We were in Paris for about 2 hours taking a taxi from CDG to the train
station. From the train station we went to Bayeux to tour the Normandy beaches for the day. Saw a lot
and took a lot of pictures.
 | In the evening we went back to Paris so we could take a train to Brussels. We got to Brussels about
11:30pm and stayed in the first hotel we found...Not the greatest place, but we has clean beds, a
shower, and cable TV (with only one station in English).

 | Took a train from Brussels to Bruges Link to internet coffee shop in Belgium (www.thecoffeelink.com)
 | Biked around Bruges and saw many interesting sites, took lots of pictures.
 | Biked out to Dame, a small town about 10km outside of Bruge

Tuesday, 5/28/2002
 | Took a early train from Bruge to Brussels, then another one from Brussels to Amsterdam.
 | Walked around the city, saw the Anne Frank house and several other sites. Had dinner at the Ankara,
a awesome restaurant in downtown Amsterdam. We took a quick tour through the "Red Light District"; as
all tourist seem to do (men and women).

Wednesday, 5/29/2002
 | Took a boat tour of Amsterdam's canals...Waste of 8 Euro!!!!
 | Saw the parliament building and took a tour of the Heineken Brewery. This tour was only 5 euro and it
included 3 beers and a 'free gift', a Heineken glass in a tin. Excellent tour and a excellent price!!!
 | Had lunch at an interesting Indian Restaurant, then toured the flower market. We tried to go the
Van Gogh museum, but it was too close to closing by the time we got there...
 | Took a night train at 8:30pm from Amsterdam to Berlin, see picture of our sleeping cabin.

 | Arrived in Berlin at about 7am
 | Took a guided walking tour of Berlin. Excellent guide with a lot of inside information. We saw just
about every sight there was too see in Berlin: TV Tower, Museum Island, Cathedral, scared buildings
from the war, Humboldt University, remaining sections of the Wall, Check Point Charlie, and lots more...
 | Lisa and Chris stayed in a awesome hotel in downtown Berlin (only 75 euro including breakfast). Zurn
opted for a hostel on the east side of Berlin.

 | Walked around Berlin, updated the website, and did laundry...
 | Tonight we are taking a train to Prague at 5:30 from Berlin's Zoo Garden Station
 | It is about noon and we are at the EasyEverything Internet Shop (www.easyeverything.com)...More to

 | Took a walking tour of Prague (Praha) and saw the Prague Castle and several other sites.
 | Went on a 'Pub Crawl' to several pubs in Prague.

Sunday, 6/2/2002
 | Prague, Czech Rep. Did some shopping in the old town square. Took a great boat trip down up and
down the river. Had Lunch on the boat then sat on top of the boat and listened to the guide describe
parts of the city. Traveling to Vienna in the afternoon. Arrived in Vienna about 9pm and took a cab
tour our hotel.

Monday, 6/3/2002
 | Vienna, Austria. Walked around town and saw the Hofburg Imperial Apartments, St. Stephens Cathedral,
climbed the tower of the cathedral (422 steps), and saw a few other museums and sites.
 | Went to see the Vienna Resident Orchestra perform. Very good show.

Tuesday, 6/4/2002
 | Vienna, Austria. Toured the Shonburg Palace and Gardens. Beautiful gardens and well maintained palace.
 | Took the ubahn to a cemetery on the outskirts of town and saw a memorial for several famous composers
(Mozart, Strauss, etc.)
 | Traveled to Salzburg. Walked around a local festival and had beir and brats.
 | Took a taxi to our Zimmer (Bed & Breakfast), which was a old farm house that was turned into a B&B. Very
nice place for only 20 euro per night, including a awesome breakfast. It also had an awesome view of the
mountains.

 | Did laundry...14 Euro for 2 loads of wash...what a rip off...
 | Toured the Salzburg Castle and walked around the town.
 | Saw several site from the Sound of Music movie.
 | Had coffee next the the fountain from the SoM movie, which was also near Mozart's house.
 | Went to a grocery store (an adventure by itself) and got stuff for dinner. Went back to our B&B, ate
dinner, and watched the 4 English stations we had on TV.

 | Wasted 30 Euro each on a 'Sound of Music Tour'. We saw a few more sites where the movie was filmed. The
best part of the tour was the little cafe that our tour guide took us to at the end of the tour.
 | Took a train to Munich and walked to our hotel (Hotel Maria Munich).
 | Took the UBahn to Hofbahhaus, which is a large beir house and restaurant. We each got a 1 liter beir
to start. We had dinner (sausage and sauerkraut dishes) and more beer the 1 Liter size. The beir and food
were both very good. We got these huge pretzels to take with to eat on our tour tomorrow.

Friday, 6/7/2002
 | Took a Dachau Concentration Camp and Memorial Tour. The tour was great, mostly because we had this very
knowledgeable Irish tour guide. We learned a lot about WWII and the Holocaust that we never knew.
 | It was raining again, so we skipped our walking tour of Munich and took a 3 hour nap. About 1900 (7pm)
we walk around town and found St. Augustine Beer Hall. We chatted with some locals who spoke pretty good
English once they had 6 or 7 beers :) We had an awesome Bavarian dinner and of course a 1 liter Dunkel
(Dark Beer).

 | Went to the Neuschwanstein Castle. It was about a 3 hour trip to the castle. This is the castle that
the Disney castle was modeled after. The castle looked neat and the inside was very over furnished and
decorated. The tour was very short and there were way too many people hurded through.
 | We found a nice Italian restaurant then took a night train to Venice.

 | Arrived in Venice, and found a nice little hotel a block from St. Marco Square.
 | Turned out to be a very nice day once the rain stopped. |

 | Spent another day relaxing in Venice. It is a very nice town, but one day
here is plenty!
